2024 Toyota Supra Defines Sports Car

The 2024 Toyota Supra adheres to the classic sports car formula as closely as any contemporary competitor. With rear-wheel drive, remarkable agility, and a snug cockpit for two, the Supra delivers driving enjoyment as the inventors of automotive performance intended.

Some drivers may wish for more room and a smoother ride for cruising, but it’s hard to argue with the Supra’s daring looks and performance potential, especially when price is a factor.

2024 Toyota Supra MK5 Is Built For Trills

Starting at $45,540, the base Supra 2.0 carries a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that develops 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. A sport-tuned eight-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels. The Supra 2.0 dashes from zero to 60 mph in 5 seconds flat — and sounds great doing it.

For $54,500, buyers can land in the Supra 3.0, which gets a six-cylinder turbo that pumps out 393 hp and 386 lb-ft of torque. The sprint to 60 mph takes just 3.9 seconds with the six-cylinder. Purists fear not, the 3.0 can be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission in place of the automatic.

An active rear differential is standard on all six-cylinder models. The 3.0 Premium ($58,745) adds Brembo brakes and a feature called Hairpin+, which permits greater wheel spin when exiting turns on a grade of more than five degrees.

Every Supra is a supremely quick and competent handler. The rigid body structure, stiff suspension, and wide tires endow the Supra with the convincing athleticism of a dedicated sports car.

For all its performance appeal, the Supra is surprisingly efficient. According to EPA estimates, the 2.0 model manages 25 miles per gallon city, 32 highway, and 28 combined. The 3.0 is rated at 22/30/25 mpg (city/highway/combined) with the automatic. Selecting the manual, however, drops efficiency to 19/27/21.

Is Te 2024 Toyota Supra MK5 Good For Everyday Driving?

As expected in this type of car, the seating position is low. The Supra’s leather and Alcantara sport seats are supportive and offer plenty of adjustments. Drivers will be able to find the right fit, even if overall space is limited.

The ride is firm without being harsh, but it’s not what we would call comfortable. Unlike some competitors, the Supra doesn’t offer adjustable suspension dampers, so there’s no way to smooth out the ride when handling isn’t a priority.

In terms of features, the Supra is quite civilized for this class. Standard fare includes an 8.8-inch touchscreen, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, and carbon fiber interior trim. Buyers can add adaptive cruise control, navigation, wireless charging, and a 12-speaker JBL sound system. The 3.0 Premium includes full leather seats and a head-up display.

Despite its hatchback design, the Supra is stingy on storage space. The cargo area holds 10.2 cubic feet, enough for two pieces of full-size luggage or a few soft bags. There’s no extra space behind the seats to place smaller items.

Final Thoughts

The 2024 Toyota Supra remains the quintessential sports car. For all its safety technology and conveniences, the Supra is an uncompromising choice for those who find joy in driving. Those characteristics come with the territory. There’s some room for improvement here, but nothing to warrant demerits.

2024 Toyota Supra Alternatives

The 2024 Toyota Supra competes with a range of impressive performers. On the higher end, the Corvette Stingray offers superior power and smoothness at a significantly higher price. The Porsche 718 is more refined and customizable but gets expensive when equipped.

The Subaru BRZ delivers affordable fun, though it trails in objective performance. The Mazda MX-5 Miata is a sporty icon whose back-to-basics approach is starting to feel old.
