What’s New for 2024 Toyota Sienna?
The 25th-anniversary package from last year may have concluded, but the introduction of the XSE Premium trim fills the gap with a suite of enticing features. Embracing luxury, it boasts leather seating, memory-powered driver and passenger seats, a tilt-and-telescopic wheel with memory function, heated side mirrors, and distinctive puddle lamps. Notably, the XSE AWD and Woodland trims showcase bright wheels with a darker hue, harmonizing with the XSE’s front-wheel drive model. Additionally, the LE and XLE trims receive a sleek update with the chrome headlamps adorned in a darkened finish. These enhancements signify Toyota’s commitment to elegance and refinement across its Sienna lineup.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
Priced between $40k and $90k, the coveted XSE model of the Toyota Sienna beckons with a blend of sportiness and luxury. Boasting a panoramic sunroof, front sport seats, and premium audio equipped with navigation, it offers an immersive driving experience. With the option of a JBL system, auditory pleasures abound. The second-row captain’s chairs and Toyota’s innovative “one-motion” 60/40 split & stow third row ensure versatile seating arrangements. Exterior enhancements, including 20-inch wheels and dynamic front and rear bumpers, elevate its aesthetic appeal. While standard with front-wheel drive, the modest $760 upgrade to all-wheel drive enhances its versatility, making the Sienna XSE an enticing choice for discerning drivers.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
Sienna has fully embraced hybrid technology, packing a 2.5-liter gasoline engine and two electric motors for a combined 245 horsepower. You can opt for all-wheel drive, powered by a third electric motor dedicated to the rear wheels. It’s one of only two hybrid minivans available, standing out from the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, which has 260 horsepower but only front-wheel drive. Our test of the all-wheel drive Sienna Platinum showed it handles well, though acceleration to 60 mph took 7.5 seconds, covering the quarter mile in 15.8 seconds at 88 mph. While it’s on par with the Pacifica Hybrid, it’s a bit slower than nonhybrid models like the Odyssey and Carnival.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
Sienna achieves excellent fuel efficiency, with estimates of 36 mpg in the city and on the highway. Opting for all-wheel drive reduces this by 1 mpg in both categories. During our test, the all-wheel drive Platinum model achieved a combined 29 mpg, which is still commendable. We’re yet to conduct the 75-mile highway fuel economy test.

Although the second-row seats aren’t removable, they slide 25 inches for flexible legroom or cargo space.
